Softball has started

Looks like my Tuesday nights for the summer are officially gone. Not only does Bo have two church softball games every Tuesday night, but both of our sweet nieces play (on two separate teams, usually at two separate times)! Last week I conquered all and got to see all three play. This week I was lazy and didn't go to any. Apparently Bo prefers it that way since they won both of their games yesterday! I am also very proud to say that Bo hit the ball well and got on base every time. Hopefully he will let me come back to the games next week!

I know that I slacked last week and didn't post the vegetable. Last week Baby K was a lime and this week we are up to a peach - almost three inches long and nearly an ounce! Fingerprints have formed on the baby's tiny fingertips, her veins and organs are clearly visible through her still-thin skin, and her body is starting to catch up with her head - which makes up just a third of her body size now. Bo and I are very excited to complete our first trimester since most of Baby K's critical development will be complete and the odds of miscarriage drop considerably. Pregnancy woes are catching up with me. I have noticed that recently I am more uncomfortable, not only throughout the day but especially at night! I guess this is God's way of getting me ready to be up in the middle of the night a lot more. This is very scary for me since I love sleep! I must have my eight hours to function properly! Please pray that my body can adjust to less sleep since I have a feeling it is going to be a long time before I get a great night's sleep again!

Spring is here!

It is official...spring has sprung! Today we were in the beautiful 80's! I have been waiting for the weather to warm up so I could bust out my old, trusty flip flops. Luckily, I work for a company that allows me to wear t-shirts and sandals to work. Although the warm up has also made me a little nervous; if it is already in the 80's, how hot is it going to be in August and September when I am ginormous? I have already purchased two maternity summer dresses, but will these get me through all the tailgaiting and football games?

We had our 11 week appointment yesterday. Man, it was a disaster. We were at the doctor's office for 2 and a half hours! We scheduled the first appointment of the day, but I guess that doesn't matter if the doctor gets stuck in surgery. On a positive note, we got new ultrasound pictures by accident! We knew we had an appointment for an ultrasound but didn't know why. We are first time parents and aren't sure how any of this goes. We are in the room and the technician running the ultrasound machine tells the lady at the computer that our baby isn't big enough. Whoa...Bo asks not big enough for what? The lady says, "The test." Bo responds, "What test?" "The Down Syndrome Test." This is when I interrupted and said we chose not to have that test. She apologized and said that's why we were getting the ultrasound, but gave us some pictures to take home as a gift.

When the lady first put the monitor on Baby K was doing some exercising! I watched as she was throwing her arms and kicking her feet! The tech quickly moved on to find a better shot to measure the baby so Bo didn't get to see the dancing that I did! (And trust that he was jealous about this when I told him what I saw even though he won't admit it!) After all the waiting we finally saw the doctor for about 5 minutes and she said that everything was looking good.  Next month I will meet with the doctor, well midwife, which will deliver the baby. For those of you counting, only 9 more weeks till we find out the gender.

Oh, I almost forgot. This week Baby K is just over 1 1/2 inches long (about the size of a fig) and is now almost fully formed! How exciting!

It is hard to believe how much Baby K has already changed and wonderful to imagine how much there is to come!

10 Weeks and counting...

I get a weekly email from babycenter.com that tells me all about my current stage of pregnancy and even gives a comparison to a fruit or veggie! This week I am 10 weeks and Baby K is barely the size of a kumquat.

Now, if you are like Bo and I we had no idea what a kumquat was so...a little over an inch long crown to bottom and weighs less than a quarter of an ounce! The email even goes on to say that if we could see in the womb we would see tiny nails growing on the fingers and toes!

Bo and I also got a great surprise in the mail today from his parents. GiGi and Granddad had sent lots of books! We are super excited to read all of them, but one is especially for in utero - Oh, Baby, the Places You'll Go!
I am sure that Bo and I will have a great time reading to Baby K throughout the pregnancy, so thanks GiGi and Granddad for helping us get our collection started!

One last piece of great news, the nausea has disappeared. I woke up last Thursday and poof, gone! And I have only been a little nauseated once since then. I hope to continue being blessed with a wonderfully easy pregnancy!

We gave in...

I have been blog stalking for a while now and never had one of my own because I thought that we didn't do anything anyone would want to read about...until now. Being that both Bo's and my family live in Tennessee I thought it would be a wonderful time to start a blog so they can track the progression of the pregnancy. I will try to keep this updated, but no promises because it is hard for me to check my email once a week!

I have included a picture of our first ultrasound. This picture is a couple of weeks old now, at that time are baby was the size of a lentil bean. We are nine weeks along now, and our Baby K is the size of a grape!

In case you were wondering, the baby is on the right hand side of the black cone and is the white mass under the transparent circle. Bo was so excited to share he took this picture on his cell phone while we were still in the doctor's office!

We have another appointment at the end of this month, so we should have an updated picture to share then. Hopefully by that time my nausea will have passed! Bo and I are super excited and can't wait until October 19th!
